La Maison de Dior

1 Oct

As if by a magnetic pull I’ve only gone and found myself standing in the garden of Christian Dior’s childhood home (!!!!!!), which is now a museum.

I’m not sure what Monsieur Dior would’ve said had he witnessed a bleary eyed me traipsing across to the showers in my leopard print pj’s, tartan dressing gown and daps this morning. But here I am, now wearing skinny jeans and shawl (going continental) gawping with excitement and gratitude at the good fortune of this morning’s meander into the town of Granville.

Sadly the house is closed, having missed by days an impressionist exhibition. There are two people busying away inside with a dressmaker’s dummy, rulers and fabric, the walls plastered with black and white pics of what I assume to reflect Dior’s story.

The house, overlooking the wide open channel, is positioned within a stunning garden just clinging on to the last days of full leaf and floral bloom – bang on season, bang on trend.
