Do you remember the first time?

23 May

We’re a reminiscent bunch aren’t we.  Remember the good old days – the music, the fashion of our yoof.  But is second time around ok?

We’ve got a fab pair of purple Doctor Martens on the stall at the moment and they received much admiration from the young guns of Bristol this weekend.  They are very cool and have been kept in great nick.  They’ll soon be gone I’m sure – to some lucky person with mini size 3 feet.

Just yesterday I saw a trendy teen looking brilliant in a shiny new pair of rose patterned DM’s – see below.  They’re all at it.

Got me thinking of my first pair of DM’s.  It was the early nineties and those sturdy boots spent many a night pounding the dance floor, dodging the mosh pit at Metros to the tones of Nirvana and Pearl Jam.  All the boys looked like baggy people with long hair.  The girls wore black tops, black lycra mini skirts, the thickest black tights (sometimes two pairs), finished off with a pair of classic black DMs.  Not to mention lashings of black liquid eye-liner and heather shimmer lippy.

Now I can’t imagine going out without heels but I do still own a pair of DMs and have recently got them out and given them a loving little polish.  I haven’t ventured out in them for years and while I won’t be letting go of them just yet, I can’t put them on without feeling like a Faith No More groupie.  Bring on the grunge (but only in your bedroom with the doors, windows and curtains closed).

But how do you polish without spoiling the roses? Love anyway.

Uber cool for this season's flower trend.

You need these boots in your life.

Gorgeous newly-new boots just like these on the stall now. Size 3.
